David Jr.
When David Castleman Jr. was born on 26 September 1776, in Frederick, Virginia, British Colonial America, his father, Johann David Castleman, was 42 and his mother, Margaret Johnson, was 42. He died on 12 October 1831, in Berryville, Clarke, Virginia, United States, at the age of 55, and was buried in Berryvlle, Frederick, Virginia, United States.
Cool Spring House
2.5 story, stone house with double chimneys, hipped roof, 5 bay, with small balustraded front portico; white plank fence across front. NOTE: P110, Vol 4 Annals, states Ralph Womeley acquired the land in the 1780s, and his son William built the house c1790. an inscription from 1799 is inscribed on one of the upper windows. Later owned by David Castleman Jr., then Charles McCormick, Col. Francis McCormick. In 1950 the Cistertian Trappists bought it and made it a monastery. House is on the Cool Spring battlefield.
