New York 1710
The months at sea on board the sailing ship Midford (Midfort) took a heavy toll from our families. The crossing normally took about 8 weeks but delays and winter weather had extended this to over 5 months. Cousin Christian lost a son while Dietrich's family lost a son and three daughters along the way. After the ship arrived in NY their struggle increases and persists until 1723 when Dietrich would finally get title to land in Stone Arabia, NY. Also see the first page "Genealogy"

The article above concludes with emigration to Pennsylvania, and many Castlemans are found there, however my direct ancestor relocated to Virginia around 1745.
